defect copies
Books have been price-bound in Germany since 1888 - so you cannot find them cheaper at one dealer and more expensive at another. An exception is made for defective copies, which are sold as remaining stock because they have a small blemish, are dirty or have minor storage or transport damage. Most of the time, these defects are tiny: a scratch on the cover, a bumped edge, a dent, a dog-eared corner, yellowing or similar. Books with serious defects such as missing pages, misprints or blind prints are not included. Defective copies are marked - but they only cost a fraction of the original retail price. The damage varies from book to book, but is not particularly serious - in any case, you can read the book.
At sisifo we put together 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 defective copies at a time, which we send in a package. You are welcome to ask us individually which titles are currently available as a back copy.
